Our Story
Dedication and Service
OPEN HANDS INTERNATIONAL (INDIA) is a charitable organization founded by Lawrence M. Arumainayagam and his wife, Christly (Getsie). Committed to bringing hope to the hopeless, assisting the helpless, and being the voice for the voiceless, Open Hands International (India) was established in 2000 as a Religious and Charitable Trust. OHI actively engages in benevolent services for the public, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, or social classes.
OHI Children Homes prioritize the physical, educational, social, and spiritual development of needy children. Admissions are needs-based, ensuring no discrimination on the basis of gender, caste, or religious background. These children receive care from a dedicated staff within a safe and healthy environment.
OHI focuses on providing equal opportunities to needy children from various backgrounds, with many graduates from our Children Homes now thriving in various fields, contributing meaningfully to their local communities. Yearly kids’ camps facilitate character development classes and games, fostering an atmosphere of love and care, encouraging these children to excel in all aspects of their lives.
Periodic medical checkups and necessary follow-ups at local clinics are conducted, while children are actively encouraged to participate in games and activities organized by schools and other charities. OHI aligns its efforts with the guidelines of the Government’s Social Welfare Department for children's care.
